NBA 2K18 released a patch to update to Michael Jordan tongue

2K Sports has pushed several updates to NBA 2K18 since the game released back in September. They’ve been tweaking everything from microtransaction prices, to your typical roster updates, to interesting new features like adding verification badges in The Neighborhood so you know if you’re playing with a real-life NBA player. 2K Sports dropped another one of these updates on Tuesday, and there was a very interesting bullet point in the patch notes NBA 2K18 made public on their Facebook page.

Hey you ... yes, you! Have you been logging hours and hours on NBA 2K18 recently? Have you been playing with Michael Jordan on the classic '90s Chicago Bulls teams featured in the game?

If you've answered 'yes' to those questions, perhaps you have noticed that Digital M.J. likes to stick his tongue out during play, just like his real-life counterpart. Props to NBA 2K -- they always pay plenty of attention to even the smallest details.

Most of those notes are pretty standard for your typical patch until you get to the bottom of the list. If your initial response was “I don’t even know what it means to make a tongue more Mike-like,” I assure you, you are not alone.

Before the update on Tuesday, Michael Jordan’s tongue wasn’t a topic of NBA 2K18 conversation. It’s such a non-factor that I couldn’t tell you what was wrong with Jordan’s tongue before the patch, but thankfully, NBA 2K18 YouTuber iTzRease documented what Jordan’s tongue looked like before and after the patch.

Like iTzRease said in his video above, it’s clear something was wrong with Jordan’s tongue prior to the patch, but it’s such a minor issue that nobody really noticed it until 2K Sports brought attention to it in the patch notes.

Bryan Wiedey found the same results that ItzRease did. Whatever was wrong with Jordan’s tongue before the patch looks similarly wrong now.

You have to appreciate the attention to detail on NBA 2K18‘s part here for trying to include something like Jordan’s signature tongue out gesture, but this one still needs some work.

Unfortunately, the nice folks over at 2K have run into bit of a snag while trying to replicate His Airness' tongue. There was a bit of a unsettling glitch that caused the tongue to protrude through Jordan's bottom lip and be affected by some weird shadowing.
