EA is making the story mode in FIFA 17 more authentic

FIFA 17 is coming soon. FIFA 17 will be officially on sale on September 27, landing platform for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. If you are a FIFA fan, you must know the exhilarating news. Before its launch, EA has released a lot of video and news to introduce the new features in FIFA 17, such as a new story mode “Journey” , a new engine “frost” and an intelligence system. Microsoft and Sony have announced the absence of the current exhibition in Cologne conference, seems to have overshadowed the entire show, but EA still insist on a whole new game content through the conference for us. Now the Cologne exhibition has begun, EA not only publish the latest news about "FIFA17" . At Gamescom 2016 Gamereactor spoke to FIFA 17's Lead Producer Garreth Reeder about the game and more specifically The Journey, a new narrative experience focussing on the rise of one player.

In the new story mode “Journey”in FIFA 17, a man named Alex Hunter of London will start his football dream trip. This is the first attempt of FIFA Series since 23 years ago. The creative director Matt Prior of FIFA 17 talked about the role of  Hunt: “Hunter’s grandfather was a legendary figure of British football in 1960s. Apparently there are many difference of football in that time. And they played football because they loved this sports, rather than a group of millionaires played football today. And Hunter’s father was also a promising player, but he had to leave the pitch because of an injury prematurely. In FIFA 17, Hunter is a normal man, not born with a silver spoon in his mouth but the football genes has been integrated into his blood. ”

Reeder said "ever since I've started working in video games I've wanted to deliver that player experience of becoming a footballer and living that life and seeing what life is like off the pitch, so we knew we wanted to make that story and we knew we didn't have all the experience to do that. We brought a lot of new people to the team who worked on narrative experiences before, we worked with some really amazing writers to bring that authenticity, and then we also worked with some players, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, who had gone through some of those experiences in their own lives. We wanted to make sure it was authentic and that we were telling it the right way so I think we did a great job on that".

So I think when people play The Journey they will see that their performances on the pitch, how they answer questions in post-match interviews or talking to their manager or teammates, the way that their personality is shaped and the way that they play on the pitch, will change certain scenes and certain parts of the story and give a different context to the story. Yes, the team of FIFA 17 has consulted with the designers of EA’s BioWare who are good at telling story to make sure the story is suit to the FIFA players. These will all be the plot elements of the story mode in FIFA 17. Hunter can be the left wing, right wing or center, and the player can not make him into a midfield or defense players . He can only be a forward and in charge of scoring goals.  But in the actual FIFA 17 game, player can choose only control Hunter or control the whole team.
