Emotional intelligence is not the only upgrade FIFA 15 will see

Doubtless inspired by video-on-demand service Netflix, EA Access represents a fresh model for the games industry. Console manufacturers Sony and Microsoft both offer subscription based services that include regular access to free games, but EA is the first major publisher to experiment with a similar concept for its own titles. In the past, subscription access has tended to be limited to add-on digital content, and has proved controversial. Activision was initially criticised for its Call of Duty Elite service, which offered subscription-based access to map packs for the military shooter series.

For the first time in many years is in fact the duo Pardo - Nava and not the historian Caressa - Bergomi to comment on the games, while maintaining the traditional wealth of statistics and trivia. Excellent as always also the audio industry dedicated to the stadium and to the sounds coming from the field, which in this edition in 2015 it was further enhanced with new effects and new songs beautifully reproduced. We now turn to the numerous game modes. Some of these, like the challenge mode or speed tournaments, do not need special introductions and allow you to play individual matches or championships alone or up to a maximum of 4 players locally, using licenses and official calendars of the alloys in the game or from scratch by creating a competition with its own rules and their own teams.

At first glance, fifa 15 doesn’t seem like very much of a change from its predecessors at all. While the gap from 2013 to 2014 was bridged by the introduction of the EA sports Ignite engine, bringing in a lot of changes, FIFA 15 doesn’t initially look like it’s brought that much to the table: The interface is pretty much entirely unchanged over the last couple of years, Lionel Messi is still considered by EA’s marketing department to be the best person in the entire world, ever, and to many players, 15 won’t really feel any different to 14 or possibly even 13.

You now feel like you can play the sort of football that Barcelona are renowned for, rather than Lionel Messi at times resembling former Newcastle United cult hero Shola Ameobi with his touch, movement and all round decision making. FIFA 15 feels like there is an intelligence in the play, sense in the runs being made and an understanding with your team-mates.

Emotional intelligence is not the only upgrade FIFA 15 will see. More advanced team tactics are promised, and will change the behavior of a team that is trailing late versus one that is ahead. A team that needs an equalizer will start bombing passes into the other side’s half of the field, while one with a lead will pack its half and bog everything down. Offensive players will take off on more optimal attacking runs and CPU players will shield the ball in the corner.
