FIFA 18: Chinese league Which Eliminated by EA has Puzzled Soccer Fans and Gamers

Chinese soccer fans are going to find this news hard to swallow: FIFA 18 will not include the Chinese Super League among its otherwise extensive international roster. Per EA's interview with Fox Sports in Italy, there was apparently no time to obtain the necessary licenses for a full deployment of the region's competitive circuit. Producer Sam Rivera did confirm that the Chinese league was at least on their thoughts, but the deal cuoldn't go through for whatever reason.

This may be a point of confusion for soccer fans and gamers, as Jiangsu Suning player Alex Teixeira Santos had jokingly instagrammed a photo captioned “Official presentation for FIFA 18 new jersey for the 2017 season," as caught by Dream Team FC. But with the official denial coming out of EA, it's now unambiguous that he was just joking.

Though not considered a true international powerhouse, the Chinese league does have a number of notable stars. Givanildo "Hulk" Vieira de Sousa represented Brazil during their win at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup over Spain, and currently plays for Shanghai SIPG after an Asian football record transfer deal of €55.8 million. Meanwhile, Peirre-Emerick Aubameyang wasn't just the fastest character in FIFA 17 -- he was the first Gabonese player to win the CAF African Footballer of the Year award in 2015, and was rated by The Guardian as the eighth-best player in the world.

FIFA 18's been previously troubled by real-world politics and issues as well, mostly in the form of sometimes-tempestuous player careers. Cover player and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, for instance, may force them to delay deployment to get his new jersey on the cover. While he's plagued by tax fraud accusations in Spain, he may be looking to transfer over to Manchester as well. That's great news for England, sure, but hardly pleasing for his current fans in Madrid.

FIFA 18 will, unless otherwise announced, come out for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch on September 29.
