Super Mecha Champions and Granbelm First Crossover Event is on the Way

NetEase has announced a crossover event between robot battle game, Super Mecha Champions, and the popular anime series, Granbelm. The event will last four weeks, giving you a chance to test your mettle – literally – in a new game mode; mangetsu battle. You will also get the chance to play as Mangetsu and Shingetsu from Granbelm, and even pilot some mechas taken right out of the show. The most significant of these are the powerful, yet subtly-named, cat mech; Viola Katze.

For any unfamiliar with the show, it’s based in a world where magical girls pilot giant robots called Armanox, fighting them in the Granbelm tournament to earn the title of Princeps Mage – basically the person who gets all the magic. As with most anime, there’s a lot of detail, but the show fits perfectly with Super Mecha Champions, as both feature giant Japanese robots clobbering the daylights out of each other.

The crossover event will open up the new game mode, Mangetsu Battle, in Battle Royale Mode. Mecha City has been transformed for this mode, with special Portal and Rune Fragments appearing on the battlefield for more gameplay variety.The Portal will appear randomly within the vicinity of the Safe Area or near airdrops. Pilots can locate them on the map and use them freely. Will you find resources or a fearsome foe? You’ll have to go through the Portal to find out. During the crossover event, players will have a chance to enter a special mode -- Mangetsu Battle, when they choose to play matches in Battle Royale Mode.The scenery of Mecha City will be completely revolutionized for the Mangetsu Battle. Within this epic scene, a special Portal and Rune Fragments will appear on the battlefield, bringing more changes to the game.

The Portal will appear randomly either within the vicinity of the Safe Area or near airdrops. Pilots can locate them on the map and use them to move freely. Whether the Portal leads pilots to face a fearsome foe or to an abundance of resources. This will be pilots’ job to find out after having made their way through the Portal.Rune Fragments with special capabilities will be scattered across Mecha City within the Mangetsu Battle. Players will need to collect them for a chance to unlock an Amulet, which allows them to select special skills such as to shorten skill cool downtime and to obtain protection shields.
